ToneSheet is a free web app, made and run by one independent developer (“we” below). This page says what it keeps about you, why, who else sees it, and how to have it removed.

In short: ToneSheet keeps what it needs for you to use it: your email address and your library. It has no ads, no analytics and no tracking scripts, and it never sells anything about you.

What ToneSheet keeps

  • Your account: your email address. You stay signed in with a cookie for up to 60 days. Your network (IP) address and browser aren’t kept with it.
  • Your library: what you type to make or change a tone, the tones and every version of them, the guitars you add, your setlists, and the backups of your device’s presets you choose to keep (with the names you gave them).
  • What you publish to the community: the tone, its title and your @name, which everyone can see; and the thumbs, marks and reports you give other players’ tones. A report is seen only by us. So is a correction you suggest to a song’s original rig, with the link you give; if it’s applied, the rig credits your @name.
  • AI use: a note of each time the AI works for you (what kind, and when), for the fair-use limit.
  • Before you sign in: the tone you make without an account is kept under a random id in a cookie. When you sign in, it moves into your account. If you don’t, it’s deleted after 30 days.

What it doesn’t keep

  • Your network address. To stop abuse, the server counts requests per address (how many tones, how many sign-in emails), in its memory only and as a scrambled value, for at most 24 hours. Nothing about it is stored with your account or your tones.
  • What passes between ToneSheet and your device. ToneSheet talks to your amp or pedal over Bluetooth from your browser. What they say to each other stays in your browser, except the backups you choose to keep.
  • Anything for advertising. No ads, tracking pixels or third-party cookies, and no analytics.

Who else sees it

ToneSheet uses a few services to do its work. Each gets only what it needs:

  • The AI model’s provider gets your request, your guitar’s details and its tuning, to make or change the tone. It doesn’t get your email address or your account.
  • A web search service gets the song or sound you name, and your guitar’s model, to look up the gear on the record and your guitar’s pickups.
  • An email service delivers your sign-in links, so it handles your email address.
  • Hosting and network providers run the server and keep it reachable. They may keep short-lived access logs, which include network addresses, to keep the service running and secure.
  • Other players see only what you publish.

We’d share anything else only if the law required it.

AI results are reused, without you

Asking the AI costs money, so when someone asks for the same thing again, ToneSheet may answer with a tone or research it already has, made for someone else. What’s reused is the tone, its explanation and the research, never who asked: not your name, your account, or what you call your guitar. Reused results stay on ToneSheet.

Cookies and your browser’s storage

  • A sign-in cookie, while you’re signed in.
  • A cookie holding your tone from before you signed in (30 days).
  • A cookie that remembers you’ve used the app, so tonesheet.com opens it instead of this site’s front page (one year).
  • Your settings and recently opened tones are kept in your browser’s storage, on your device. So are backups of your device’s presets made before you sign in.

None of them track you across other sites.

How long it’s kept

Your account and library are kept until you delete them or ask us to. Tones you delete from your library are deleted at once. Unclaimed tones from before signing in go after 30 days, sign-in links once used or after 15 minutes, and the counts per network address after 24 hours.

Your choices

  • Download your tones, guitars and setlists at any time: Download a backup, in the app’s menu.
  • Delete tones, guitars and setlists in the app, or remove a tone you published from the community.
  • Close your account, or ask what we keep about you, correct it or have it deleted: write to hello@tonesheet.com from the address you sign in with. We answer within 30 days.

Depending on where you live, data protection law may give you more rights than these; ask, and we’ll honour them.

Children

ToneSheet isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly keep anything about them. If you think a child has an account, tell us and we’ll delete it.

Changes

When this page changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change matters to how your data is used, ToneSheet will say so on the site before it applies.
