Terms
Last updated 12 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and the independent developer who makes and runs ToneSheet (“we” below). By using ToneSheet you agree to them. If you don’t, please don’t use it. How ToneSheet handles your data is on the privacy page.
What ToneSheet is
ToneSheet makes presets for guitar amps and multi-effect pedals with the help of an AI model, explains them, and plays them on your device from your browser. It’s free. We may change, add or remove features, and we may stop the service, ideally with notice on the site.
Your account
- You need to be at least 13 years old, or older where the law requires it, to have an account.
- One account is for one person. Keep access to your email secure: anyone who can open your sign-in links can use your account.
- You can stop using ToneSheet at any time, and ask us to close your account.
Fair use
Every time the AI makes or changes a tone, it costs real money, and ToneSheet pays it so it can stay free. So each account can use the AI 50 times a day. There are also limits per network address and for the whole site. Opening community tones, editing by hand and playing tones are never limited.
Don’t get around the limits: no extra accounts to get more turns, and no scripts, bots or automated requests. We may limit or close accounts that do.
Your tones and what you type
- What you type and the tones you make are yours, as far as anyone owns them. We don’t claim them.
- You allow us to store and process them to run ToneSheet for you: to make and change tones, keep your library and show it on your devices.
- You also allow ToneSheet to reuse what the AI made for you (the tone, its explanation and research), without anything that identifies you, to answer other players who ask for the same thing.
Publishing to the community
- A tone you publish is shared under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence (CC BY 4.0): anyone may use, share and change it, as long as they credit your @name.
- Publish only what you have the right to share: not someone else’s presets, and not a device maker’s own presets.
- Players can report tones. We may remove any published tone, or name, that breaks these terms.
What’s not allowed
- Anything unlawful, hateful, harassing or sexual in what you publish, including titles, notes and your @name.
- Spam, advertising and links in what you publish.
- Attacking, overloading or probing ToneSheet, or getting at other people’s accounts or data.
- Copying ToneSheet’s community or library in bulk by automated means.
The AI can be wrong
A tone is the AI’s best attempt at getting close to a record, checked by ToneSheet against what your device can do. It can still get gear, tunings or settings wrong, and it won’t sound exactly like the record. Use your ears, and change what you like.
Your device
- Mind the volume. A new tone can be louder than the one before. Turn your amp or headphones down before you play one, then bring the volume up.
- Playing a tone changes only your device’s current sound. ToneSheet changes what’s stored on your device only when you choose to save, and tells you first what it would replace. Keep a backup of your presets (ToneSheet can make one).
- ToneSheet is independent: it isn’t made, endorsed or supported by HOTONE or Sonicake. We can’t promise it works with every unit or firmware, and you use it on your device at your own risk.
No warranty
ToneSheet is provided free and “as is”, without any warranty that it will be available, correct or fit for a purpose. As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for any loss or damage from using it, including lost presets, settings or data. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law that can’t be waived.
Ending
You can stop using ToneSheet whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. What you published under CC BY 4.0 stays licensed to those who already have it, but we’ll remove it from ToneSheet if you ask.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the date at the top changes too, and a change that matters will be announced on the site before it applies. Using ToneSheet after that means you accept the new terms.
